ABOUT SANDERSONS
Sandersons Confectioners began life in the 1930s when John Henry Sanderson and his wife Alice started baking home made bread in the back of their grocery store in Bacup for their neighbours. In 1949 they saw an opportunity to purchase the village bakery in Mellor Brook Lancashire. Their son Clarence, whilst studying bread making, flour confectionary, cake decoration and microbiology at Blackburn college met his future wife Glenys, and under this partnership the business flourished.

In later years Cyril, Clarences brother joined the business, and was responsible for the introduction of machinery and automated methods used today.

The next investment came in 1978 with the purchase of premises for the production of pies and pastries, the two bakeries worked side by side until it became obvious that much larger premises were needed and in 1984 saw the purchase of a 12,000 sq ft site, and the two bakeries came under one roof, which is now known as Ramgreave Bakery.

The present partnership includes :- Clarence Sanderson, his brother Cyril, Clarences two sons Glyn & Martyn, and Cyrils daughter Rachel.
